PoliticsNY and amNY Metro name Loretto President & CEO Dr. Kimberly Townsend a

2024 Nonprofit Power Player in Healthcare

Syracuse, NY (December 4, 2024) – Dr. Kimberly Townsend has been named a 2024 Nonprofit Power Player by PoliticsNY & amNY Metro. The 2024 Nonprofit Power Player List features New York State public officials, business executives, and community leaders who are “shaping the future of their city and New York State.”

As the CEO of the 4th-largest healthcare system in the region, Townsend has worked to create an aligned system of care to meet the evolving needs of the aging population and local hospital partners to deliver more highly complex and specialized care in Central New York. Integral to that system of care are the robust recruitment and retainment initiatives implemented by Townsend and her team that ensure the highest quality of care for the over 10,000 people Loretto serves each year.

The recruitment initiatives include Loretto’s Certified Home Health Aide Program, Certified Nurse Aide Training Program, and the country’s first federally registered Licensed Practical Nurse Program. These paid training programs have successfully graduated over 400 individuals, increased the number of certified workers in the area, and improved the wage potential of low-to-moderate-income healthcare workers.

Townsend also established development programs to help retain employees, including Loretto’s Leadership Academy and Mentorship Programs. Both paid-training programs teach Loretto employees the critical professional skills they need to be successful in their roles and provide year-long support from the employee experience team.

Townsend is thankful for being recognized as a 2024 Nonprofit Power Player by PoliticsNY &amNY Metro and looks forward to growing and supporting her workforce in 2025. “Loretto’s mission as a nonprofit healthcare provider is to provide extraordinary care each day, which requires frontline employees who are well-trained, supported, and empowered. Our recruitment and retainment initiatives have ensured we are achieving our mission, and these programs have improved the lives of our employees by offering better wages, access to benefits, and the ability to grow personally and professionally. For that, I am proud of our collective effort to improve the lives of others, and I appreciate this recognition of our work.”
