National Adult Day Services Week has been celebrated in the third week of September since 1983 when President Ronald Reagan declared it as a celebratory week. This week is meant to celebrate the wonderful services and programs needed to make adult day services available. Much like Loretto’s Daybreak Program, day services are meant to allow adults to live in their homes as long as possible. According to the National Adult Day Services Association, these services help over 150,000 people every day.
Our Daybreak Program services include:
- Medication management, insulin shots, etc. through our nursing services
- Nutritional services such as our daily lunch, overseen by a registered dietitian
- Physical, occupational, and speech therapy
- Personal care such as assistance with toileting
Our Daybreak Program’s dedicated team of caregivers include:
- RNs
- LPNs
- Certified Nurse Aides
- Registered Dietitians
- Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Therapy
- Case Managers
- Recreation staff
This week is the perfect opportunity to show appreciation for those making adult day services happen and raise awareness of its availability to the public. At Loretto, we offer our Medical Day Program services to participants 21 and older. Below we cover just a few of the ways a Medical Day Program can benefit both participants and their caregivers.
Socialization
Structured activities, daily meals, and planned outings all within a safe environment provide plenty of opportunities for socialization.
Comprehensive care
Medical Day Programs go a step further than Social Day programs, providing a more comprehensive program that assists adults with medical conditions through our network of RNs, LPNs, Certified Nurse’s Aides, Registered Dietitians, Therapists, Case Managers and Recreation Staff. Improved overall health & well-being
Medical Day Programs like Loretto’s Daybreak Program can help delay progression of diseases and stabilize chronic health conditions, resulting in decreased hospitalization and improved overall health. This allows participants to continue to live independently for as long as possible, while providing their caregivers with additional support.
Transportation
At Loretto, we provide transportation to and from our Medical Day Program. We also provide assistance with transportation to medical appointments as needed, so a participant’s caregiver can have the peace of mind knowing that their loved one is getting where they need to be safely.
Loretto’s Daybreak program provides a more comprehensive day care program, assisting adults with medical conditions. This includes transportation to and from the program and assistance with medical appointments as needed. All of this comes along with the structured activities, meals coordinated by a Registered Dietitian, and social interaction. If you are interested, please contact our team today.
