Did you know that Loretto is the fourth largest healthcare provider in Central New York, serving over 10,000 individuals each year and employing nearly 2,500 Loretto people?
As a major regional healthcare provider and employer, Loretto continuously works to improve the lives of those we serve and employ, understanding the impact our work has on them and their families.
Family is at the heart of everything we do at Loretto, so much so that it is central to Loretto’s mission: “To be a family of exceptional people caring for and about each other.” And sometimes, our family needs extra support.
Mission in Action
To experience Loretto’s mission, visit Loretto’s Housing Department. There, you will find employees who recently went above and beyond to bring Loretto’s mission to life for their coworkers and residents.
And for a joyous reason—our Loretto Family has grown by two! Two housing employees, Stephanie Deecher, assistant administrator of The Heritage, and Max Klump, admissions representative at The Bernardine, and their families welcomed new children.
Both Stephanie and Max serve critical roles at Loretto, matching residents with living accommodations that fit their needs while managing the onboarding, placement, and management of their care. Stephanie works at The Heritage, a 79-bed memory care community, and Max works at The Bernardine, a 130-bed assisted living and independent living community.
Rising to the Challenge
The Housing Department’s challenge was to continue the good work Stephanie and Max did each day while they took month-long leaves to care for their children.
Some of these responsibilities include having conversations with prospective residents and their families, providing tours, administering the cognitive and physical screenings of residents to find the best placement, obtaining necessary paperwork and the medical information required, and handling the financial screening and planning.
Meet the Team
Kudos to this team of exceptional employees for exemplifying what it means to care for our Loretto family. Here is how they felt about the experience in their own words:
Kim Staiger, Director of Admissions & Marketing
“This team effort began with Max and Stephanie doing everything possible to set us up for success before they left. I can’t say enough good things about our team, which took on additional responsibilities to ensure the best possible experience for our residents and families. We are thrilled for Stephanie and Max, and this experience proved how much we care about one another and the exceptional services we provide.”
Joshua Edinger, Assistant Administrator, The Bernardine
“It was an eye-opening experience for me to see the different aspects Max handles daily in admissions. Generally, I see the last step when the paperwork is complete, and the resident is ready to move in. I now have a greater appreciation for the work he does each day, and I’m thankful for it.”
Bianca D’lorio, Admissions Representative, Buckley Landing
“I manage admissions for Buckley Landing, a 90-bed assisted living community in North Syracuse. Since Stephanie has been out, I have split my time between working at Buckley Landing and The Heritage to ensure both buildings are current on their admissions processes. It’s down to teamwork; I know my department supports me, and they have helped me prioritize. I have enjoyed helping in a memory care community and learned so much here.”
Melissa Baker, Admissions, Move-In Coordinator, The Nottingham
“I have previously worked at The Bernardine as an admissions representative, so I was happy to help. The team at The Bernardine is fantastic, and I enjoyed working with them again. Even when it got a little hectic, someone would always step up to help, so overall, it was a good experience for us as employees and our residents and families.”
Noreen Longden, Admissions Representative, Sedgwick Heights
“I have been a Loretto admissions representative for 22 years and have worked at all Loretto housing sites. I enjoy helping families in crisis who are looking for the right place for their loved ones to live, and I am always happy to help when our department needs someone to cover an absence. When Stephanie and Max were out, I mainly helped at The Bernardine, setting up screenings and tours. They have a great team there, so they made it easy to help.”
Deb Taber, Manager of HUD Facility
“We have a strong team, and our planning for both of their leaves really set us up for success. I enjoyed helping at The Bernardine, giving tours and working with families to find the best placement for their loved ones.”
