Syracuse, NY (August 5, 2026) – The Loretto Foundation will present Senator Rachel May, Susan Clancy-Magley, and Interfaith Works with community awards at the Mission in Motion Centennial Celebration held on October 8 at the Palladian Hall at the Treasury in Syracuse.
Senator Rachel May is receiving the 2026 Loretto Foundation Distinguished Service Award, which is presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, leadership and impact in improving care for older adults within Loretto.
Senator May represents Central New York’s 48th District, including Syracuse, parts of Onondaga County, and Cayuga County. As former chair of the Senate Committee on Aging, she supported home care workforce initiatives, expanded funding for in-home care programs, and helped pass legislation to help expand PACE CNY, Loretto’s Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, which is the only national PACE program available in Central New York.
Senator May has also helped secure historical increases in state budget allocations for area agencies on aging, community services for the elderly, and caregiver support programs. Her dedication to helping improve the quality of life for older adults and advocacy work to affect positive change in long-term care services and support is exemplary.
Susan Clancy-Magley is the recipient of Loretto’s new John H. Clancy Mission Leadership Award, named in honor of her father, John H. Clancy, who was the first chair of Loretto’s Board of Directors when Loretto became a nonprofit in 1976.
John left an enduring legacy of integrity, compassion, and community leadership. This award celebrates those who lead with humility, inspire collaboration, and champion Loretto’s mission to be a family of exceptional people caring for and about each other. Recipients embody Loretto’s values of trust, kindness, teamwork, and leadership while helping guide the organization with wisdom, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to those we serve.
Susan Clancy-Magley is the inaugural recipient recepient of this award as a long-serving Loretto board member. Through her staunch support of Loretto, Susan has demonstrated the kind of thoughtful, mission-driven leadership this award was created to celebrate. Her generosity, guidance, and commitment to serving others have helped strengthen our organization and inspire those around her. This award also recognizes the extraordinary legacy of the Clancy family, whose dedication to Loretto has spanned generations and continues to shape our organization today. Susan’s daughter, Liza Magley, currently serves as the Loretto Board Chair.
InterFaith Works is the 2026 recepient of the Loretto Foundation Community Impact Award, which recognizes individuals or groups who champion the Loretto mission and have contributed to the overall well-being and vitality of the community. InterFaith Works is a non-profit organization in Syracuse that affirms the dignity of each person and every faith tradition, builds racial and religious equity, and creates bridges of understanding in the community.
For over 50 years, InterFaith Works has become an invaluable community resource because of its dedication to healthy aging, meaningful connection, and helping individuals maintain independence and dignity. Loretto’s mission, along with Loretto values of trust, kindness, teamwork, and leadership, closely align with InterFaith Works’ efforts to enhance quality of life and provide the support and resources older adults need to thrive. Together, Loretto and InterFaith Works share a common purpose of strengthening the well-being of those we serve and our Central New York Community.
The Mission in Motion Centennial Celebration will be held on October 8 at the Palladian Hall at the Treasury in Syracuse. The Loretto Foundation’s annual fundraising event will celebrate Loretto’s Centennial this year, marking 100 years that Loretto has provided services and support to the Central New York Community. The Loretto Foundation is a non-profit organization established to advocate for older adults and support Loretto’s role as an innovator in long-term care. Last year, the fundraiser raised over $250,000 to help Loretto residents and employees in need.
The Foundation provides a variety of programs and initiatives that deliver hope and compassion to Loretto employees and residents, like workforce development programs that offer paid training, innovative technology for residents, emergency grants for employees in crisis, memory care unit amenities, and free diapers to Loretto employees with small children.
