At the start of each new year, many people create resolutions and reevaluate their current habits. A New Year’s resolution can mean many things – even a new career!
Ryan Jones, Senior Recruiter at Loretto, has been here for over four years. He works to recruit Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) across the organization. Jones has noticed that there is typically a spike in applicants at the beginning of the year – with many people exploring new options and looking for a fresh start.
“A lot of nurses are looking for a change, especially at the beginning of the year,” Jones shares. He explains that many nurses he speaks with are looking for a change of pace from their current careers. They may feel burnt out and are looking to try something new.
One unique opportunity that Loretto is currently offering is positions in our Restorative Care Unit (RCU). The RCU is the first of its kind in CNY and now offers 48 beds designed to help those requiring medically complex care, including those with cardiac conditions, to rehab more comfortably in a more home-like setting, resulting in quicker recovery and reduced hospital readmissions.
“I just hired a nurse recently, up in the RCU, who came from a hospital background, and they said, ‘I enjoy working here because it’s a team environment.’ Up on the RCU and all the floors, really, they make sure that everyone is willing to help each other.”
Many RNs or LPNs who come to work at Loretto are not only looking for a change, but a place to call home for the remainder of their careers.
“Often, this is where they want to work until they are retired, which I love doing, because we are not only helping them find a new career, but we are also helping the residents, so it feels like a double win,” said Jones.
